Catching Up

So here's what we have been up to the last few weeks:

I was finally moved around the hotel! The past month I was working in the cold prep banquet kitchen. For one day i was in fruit station making platters and salads for club. Another day i worked in morning banquets where, since it was slow, i moved to help the bakers and i helped our co worker RayRay make California Rolls.

First, lay out the sushi rice on the Nori
Then, for Cali rolls, we use crab mixed with Mayo, avocado, and cucumber
Then roll!

California Rolls are my second favorite next to Spicy Tuna Rolls :)

One night after Brandon and I went to see a Hawaiian show called 'Ulalena', we went out to dinner at Merriman's. It was SUPER expensive so we shared the pupu platter. (appetizer platter)
It had 4 dishes on it:
Keahole Lobster, avocado, tomato, fennel, arugula, maui onion, cilantro lime chili vinaigrette

Kalua Pig Quesadilla, kim chee, and mango chili sauce

Warm crusted surfing goat cheese, kula strawberry, maui onion, strawberry and garden mint vinaigrette
Ahi sashimi, kim chee, pahole fern, pickled ginger

chocolate lave "purse"(wrapped in phillo crisp) with lilikoi sauce and vanilla ice cream

pineapple upside down cake, candied macadamia nuts and pineapple, coconut ice cream

It seemed like a nice dinner but on top of the price ($32 just for the app) the food was not good. The lobster was like a tire, the ahi was warm, and the lava cake was straight up batter! but im glad we got to experience it.

This here is a Eureka lemon! i think its beautiful. it has pink flesh and is a bit sweeter than regular lemons.

Just yesterday on a day off, we visited Lahaina to see Men In Black 3. It was so good! a must see... anyway! we went to eat lunch at Pho Saigon 808. I was thinking it would be gross. Usually little vietnamese places in my experience are nothing more than eh. This place was yum! well, mostly. Brandon got Pho which was delicious. The server who was also the cook said he used 2# of bones for the broth. He said "i dont skimp out" haha it showed. I just got fried tofu, im crazy about the stuff. We also had spring rolls but you could tell they were store bought. You win some you lose some. :)

And this here is beer can chicken!

Brandon made this tonight for a little get together. its soooo good!

I have to say, i do not want to go back anytime soon. So many decisions to make about school. Do we continue, do we stay with The Ritz Carlton? Well, we still have time.

See you soon!
