This was made all in about 3 hours! We used fondant for all the decorations and a simple cake for the inside (it was only judged on decoration). Its unbelievable how hard fondant is to work with in Hawaii. The humidity just kills it! 5 minutes sitting out of the fridge and its just a big sticky mess. But we had a blast! 2 days ago i got an email saying i won! I, Julia Jones, have finally won a contest. I mean sure i came in 3rd with HMS Host and was a finalist with Panasonic but this contest was mine for the taking. and there were 17 other cakes. Im so happy and Brandon is so proud :) Im using my tickets to fly my parents out to my graduation from the CIA in April! Cant wait. Heres the link so you can check out my entry on Pinterest:
Southwest Cake Contest
Other than this awesome news, Brandon and I had amazing taro frozen yogurt today. Im a huge fan of taro! I love it in everything. Mochi, breads, ice cream, tapioca, poi, just so many options! It has such a beautiful purple speckled color. Definitely topped off our day today :) Who knows whats next on our foodventures, tomorrow at work we have 2 huge plate ups. So glad we're working hard. Its super fun and we're learning a ton! Im a lot faster with my knife cuts now.
See you guys next time!
Julia
